Auour Investments Announces GIPS Verification

Auour Investments LLC (“Auour”) embraces industry best practices for composite performance reporting.

January 3, 2017: Auour announces that the firm was independently verified by The Spaulding Group.    As of February 2016, the company claimed compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) and planned to have third party verification in mid-2017.  Auour decided to accelerate verification in response to market demand.

GIPS is a set of standardized, industry-wide ethical principles that provide investment management firms with guidance on how to calculate and report their investment results. Although the adoption of GIPS is not mandated by regulation, it is considered best practice for investment advisors.

“From the very beginning of Auour, we set up our processes and procedures to conform to GIPS since we planned on claiming compliance as we reached certain milestones.  We are proud of the fact that we were able to go through the independent verification process over a two-week period which included two national holidays” stated Joe Hosler, managing principal of Auour.

Ken Doerr, managing principal of Auour, added “We accelerated the timetable to independent verification at the request of a national, advisor-owned financial services company.  The verification went smoothly which can be attributed to Auour’s comprehensive internal systems and processes.”

Third party verification brings additional credibility to a firm’s claim of compliance and requires robust review of performance composites and thorough testing of policies by the independent party. Auour chose The Spaulding Group, a recognized industry leader, for verification because of their long history as a GIPS service provider and pioneer in performance measurement.

About GIPS

The foundation for the GIPS standards was first established in 1987 with the creation of the AIMR Performance Presentation Standards (AIMR-PPS®), voluntary performance guidelines for the North American investment management industry. In search of a global standard, the CFA Institute approved Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) in 2005. The GIPS standards have replaced country specific performance standards, providing for the comparison of investment performance internationally across firms.
